waste的用法講解
1. 用作動詞,表示“浪費”,注意以下句型與結(jié)構(gòu):
(1) 用于 waste time (money) on [over, upon] sth,表示“在……方面浪費時間(金錢)”。如:
I don’t think we need waste much time on this. 我想我們不必在這上面
浪費時間了。
Don’t waste any more time over it. 不要再在這上面浪費時間了。
(2) 用于 waste time (money) (in, on) doing sth,表示“浪費時間(金錢)做某事”。如:
She wasted her time and money (on) paying bribes. 她將時間和金錢浪費于賄賂。

waste 之后也可接除 time, money 之外的名詞作賓語。如:

2. waste也可用作名詞,表示“浪費”,不可數(shù),但可連用不定冠詞。如:
The policy is aimed at reducing waste. 這項政策旨在減少浪費。
It’s a waste of time your talking to him. 你和他談話是白費時間。
It was mere waste of breath to argue with him. 和他辯論不過是白費氣力。
另外,它還可表示“廢料”“廢物”等,也不可數(shù)。如:
Waste from the body passes out from the bowels. 身體中的廢物由腸道排出。
Industrial waste must be prevented from polluting our rivers. 必須阻止工業(yè)廢料污染我們的江河。

3. 有時還可用作形容詞,表示“無用的”“廢棄的”等。如:
He threw it away, thinking it was waste paper. 他把它扔掉,以為它是廢紙。
