　　■in addition 加之，又，另外

　　There was an earthquake and, in addition, there were tidal waves. 除了地震之外，還有海嘯。

　　You need money and time, in addition, you need diligence. 你需要金錢和時(shí)間，此外你還需要努力。

　　■in action 在活動(dòng)中，在進(jìn)行中，在運(yùn)轉(zhuǎn)中，在戰(zhàn)斗中

　　He was killed in action in France. 他在法國(guó)陣亡。

　　The machine is now in action. 機(jī)器正在運(yùn)轉(zhuǎn)。

　　I’ve heard he’s an excellent player but I’ve never seen him in action. 我聽(tīng)說(shuō)他是位高手，但還從未實(shí)地見(jiàn)過(guò)。

　　■in advance 在前頭，事先，預(yù)先

　　Everything has been fixed in advance. 一切都預(yù)先安排好了。

　　They will pay a hundred and thirty francs in advance. 他們將預(yù)付130法郎。

　　■in bulk 大量，大批

　　If you buy in bulk, it’s 10% cheaper. 大量購(gòu)買，9 折優(yōu)惠。

　　■in case (用作連詞，表目的或條件)以防;如果 (用作副詞)以防萬(wàn)一

　　You must take your umbrella in case it rains. 你要帶雨傘，以防下雨。

　　In case you see him, ask him about it. 如果你見(jiàn)著他，問(wèn)問(wèn)他這事。

　　You’d better carry some money in case. 你最好帶些錢，以防萬(wàn)一。

　　■in cash 用現(xiàn)金

　　Would you pay me in cash, please? 請(qǐng)您付給我現(xiàn)金行嗎?

　　Are you paying by check or in cash? 你是用支票還是用現(xiàn)金付款?

　　【注】表示“用現(xiàn)金(付款)”，英語(yǔ)通常用in cash，有時(shí)也用by cash，但是語(yǔ)習(xí)慣上不說(shuō)with cash。如：

　　Unless paying by credit card, please pay in cash. 除非用信用卡付款，否則請(qǐng)付現(xiàn)金。

　　The purchase price is less if you pay by cash. 付現(xiàn)金的話，價(jià)錢便宜些。

　　■in charge 主管，掌管，看管

　　Who is in charge here? 誰(shuí)是這里的負(fù)責(zé)人?

　　I’d like to speak to the person in charge. 我想跟你們負(fù)責(zé)人說(shuō)句話。

　　■in check 受抑制的，受控制的

　　He held his anger in check. 他壓住怒火。

　　We’ve kept the disease in check for a year now. 我們控制住這種疾病至今已有一年了。

　　■in chorus 一齊，一致，共同

　　All the students replied in chorus to the teacher’s question. 所有學(xué)生齊聲回答老師的問(wèn)題。

　　“Good morning, Mrs Fulton,” the children answered in chorus. “早上好，富爾頓太太。”孩子們齊聲回答道。

　　■in colour 在色彩方面;彩色的

　　They vary in colour. 它們的顏色各不相同。

　　All the pictures in this book are in colour. 這本書(shū)里的所有圖畫(huà)都是彩色的。

　　■in comfort 舒適地

　　He lives in comfort in the country. 他在鄉(xiāng)下過(guò)著舒適的生活。

　　Our caravan sleeps six in comfort. 我們居住的拖車可舒舒服服地睡六個(gè)人。

　　■in company 一起，在一起

　　We went in company. 我們一起去的。
