rather的用法1:rather是程度副詞,用來修飾原級(jí)或比較級(jí)形容詞和副詞、動(dòng)詞、分詞或單數(shù)名詞,意思是“有些”“相當(dāng)”“多少地”,常用于負(fù)面含意。rather可和too連用,作程度狀語,但此時(shí)不可以修飾比較級(jí)。
rather的用法2:rather用以減弱而不是加強(qiáng)其后所跟的詞或詞組的作用,如拒絕別人請(qǐng)求幫助時(shí),顯得比較客氣,又如為了謙虛,可用這詞使自己在引人注目的場(chǎng)面表現(xiàn)得樂而不狂。
rather的用法3:rather一般放在不定冠詞前面,名詞前有形容詞時(shí),也可放在不定冠詞后面。
rather的用法4:rather than和more...than的比較:前者表示“與其……倒不如……”,后者表示“更……比起……”,注意詞組more...than中的than前面不可以加上rather。
