Dave: She means business, for sure.
戴夫： 她可都是玩真的。

mean business是表示“當(dāng)真，玩真的”，沒有兒戲的成份在內(nèi)，一心一意地去達(dá)成某件事，未必和“生意”business有關(guān)：
A: I still can't believe Mary got into college.
我還是不敢相信瑪莉考進(jìn)大學(xué)了。
B: Well, she meant business this time.
呃，她這次是玩真的。
mean business也可以表示為了某種目的而來：
A: Why are the police outside?
警察怎么會在這兒?
B: They mean business. Otherwise, they wouldn't have come here.
他們來辦事。要不然沒事他們不會來的。
1) be down on... 對……感到失望，看不起。
2) in action 在行動中，在動作中
3) half-brain (n.) 只有半個腦，意即“沒大腦，白癡”。

【On the phone 在電話上】
與phone搭配的動詞包括answer, speak on ,talk on。要注意phone之前要有定冠詞the?！敖勇犽娫挕笔莂nswer the phone，絕不可誤用receive, speak/talk on the phone是“在電話中講話”。而“你的電話”在英文里絕非your telephone，應(yīng)說It's for you或You are wanted on the phone。
A: Janet, you are wanted on the phone.
珍妮特，你的電話。
B: I'm sorry. I Just can't answer the phone right now.

【turn into a...on someone在……面前表現(xiàn)得……】
當(dāng)你眼前的這個人，在個性或是應(yīng)對反應(yīng)上，突然表現(xiàn)得跟平常完全不一樣，讓你對這突然的轉(zhuǎn)變感到有些不習(xí)慣，這時你就可以用這個句型來表達(dá)你的想法。

come down to是指情況到了最后成敗的關(guān)頭，短期內(nèi)就要見真相：

也可以指彼此的關(guān)系每況愈下，到達(dá)谷底：
A: I need more money. Give me some.
我還要錢。給我一點(diǎn)。

你也可以說It came down to the point where...以表示情勢的發(fā)展已至最后的臨界點(diǎn)：
