新托福作文需要行文不啰嗦,句子應越短越好,如果一個字能說清楚的,就不要用兩個字。
例如:At this point in time,we should pull t_ether for our goal. (現在我們應該為我們的目標團結一致)這句話中“At this point in time”表示“現在”,我們完全可以用now來代替。
In the majority of cases,he likes to ride bike to the office. (他通常喜歡騎單車到辦公室)。很簡單的一句話,完全可以寫成 He usually likes to ride bike to the office.
托福寫作經驗提出平時我們所說的用詞多樣化和地道并不是體現在這些時間副詞或者是完全可以簡化的啰嗦句型上,而是指實用性極強的詞如動詞和形容詞,比如:
Original:Solving trivial problems in the dorm will add your social experience and help you to understand other people's feelings and learn to be kind.
Revised: Solving trivial problems in the dorm will enrich your social experience and help you to understand other people's feelings and learn to be considerate.
add,kind表達的含義都比較寬泛。add可以指數量上的增加,也可以指程度的加強,對于“豐富經驗、增加知識”這個意思,用enrich會使表達更準確。kind從字面意義上講是“好的、善良的”,用kind來形容人無法具體地表現出一個人的性格特征到底怎樣,原句中是想表達“考慮周到、體貼入微”的特點,要準確表達這個含義應選擇considerate。
另外,我們常見的一些累贅用詞表現在句意的理解上,比如:He has had many years of (actual) experience in business.(他有多年經商的經驗)actual是多余的,因為experience已經有actual的意味了。
We assembled(t_ether) all the parts for our radio. (我們裝好收音機的零件)assemble本身就有t_ether的意思,因此t_ether是多余的?!捌降认嗵幵瓌t”的意思是行文不出現明顯的帶歧視或偏見的字眼,包括男女性別,也要避免區(qū)別,以示“平等”。例如:
Many businessmen(businesswomen) feel their jobs are very stressful. (許多商人覺得工作壓力很大) 這句話寫 businessmen或是businesswomen都是不妥當的,可以改為 business people或 business executives或business managers就可以包括男女了。
當然一些帶有種族偏見的字眼,甚至有侮辱的味道(insulting words 或 slur),要盡量避免在托福作文中使用,以免鬧出麻煩。例如:
對黑人不要用 Negro,更不能用Nigger(用 Black 還可以),禮貌的說法 是 Afro-American 或African-American;對白人不要用Honky(這是黑人罵白人的用字),正確用法是 Caucasian,或 white people;對猶太人不要用 Hymies,應該叫Jewish 或 Jewish people;對越南人不要用 Gook,要用 Vietnamese;至于墨西哥人、西班牙人及中、南美洲人,包括 Puerto Rico,正確的用法多是Hispanics 或 Latins,不過據說西班牙人為了維護自己的文化,倒喜歡別人稱為 Spaniard。

托福寫作:如何訓練自己的思維模板
一、打字速度
作為互聯網的一代,絕大部分考生對鍵盤應當是相當熟悉對,并且用中文打字的速度也是十分的快速,但是為什么偏偏英文就不行呢?答案很簡單,大家熟悉的是中文拼音的排列組合。而英文就不行,考生對英文單詞的陌生感遠遠超出了自己的想象,所以水平測試時總能看到他們不停地思考,不停地刪除重打,時間也就隨之流逝。
想要提高寫作速度,離不開熟練度的提高。每天半小時,電腦左右兩邊各一word文檔,左邊是英文材料,從詞匯到句型到段落到篇章,右邊是空白文檔。先邊看邊打,再試著把左邊遮去,這樣反復操練,既提升了速度,又鞏固了詞句,提升了語感,還能順便背下幾個好的段落。
二、“模板”
一個好的模板毫無疑問能夠幫助大家節(jié)省時間。但是這樣做也存在一定的弊病。首先對學生寫作能力的真正的提升是有害的。其次對提分來說更不現實,因為考官甚至包括E-rater(電腦閱卷)都很容易識別出模板的套路,并且模版屬于別人,與個人的寫作風格和用詞習慣格格不入,不是填詞就能解決的。

三、理由
托福獨立寫作雖然話題簡單,卻考察著學生較強的問題地解釋和分析能力,雖然不需要太深刻,但一定要具體有道理。很多考生在論證的時候,要么是想不出來,要么就是解釋的沒有邏輯沒有條理。

Admittedly,children do learn the meaning of caring and responsibility from their pets dueto the fact that they have to take time everyday to handle the food, water andshelter for their beloved ones. And they could also acquire seemly genuineenjoyment and happiness from playing with their pets. But those enjoyment couldbe attained from other safer and simpler ways, specifically games or arts,other than pets. The mental benefits such as the sense of responsibility andcaring could be narrowed and segmentary because the emotion of animals cannotbe as difficult and sensitive as that of humans. Children might be depressedand desperate when they find they don’t pay off as they give. The world doesnot operate as children do with their pets.
In conclusion, keeping pets would not bring as many benefits as we think to children. Instead,it often ends up doing more harms to them. To ensure the healthy development ofchildren, we must not let them have their pets.
