In my opinion, a government leader had better have the legal background, because in this way we can be offered a well-rounded environment to live in. For example, nowadays most of the cities are suffering from the traffic problems, since there are so many private cars. The waste gas emitted by the cars also has worsened the air pollution. However, the individual citizens could do almost nothing to help reverse this situation because just choosing to take the public transportation could do just a little help. In this case, a government leader with legal background will be in a better position to protect the environment, for the government can put laws into effect to increase tax on private cars, or to put traffic restrictions based on even- and odd- numbered license plates. These kinds of measures made by the government leader would be the most helpful one to help offer a harmonious environment to the citizens.

Every time after taking the exams, she will become a little bit worried and can’t sleep well for several days. When her parents knew about her moth score at school without her permission, she became really irritated and a little bit ashamed. 托??谡Z(yǔ)成績(jī)?cè)谒膫€(gè)科目中(閱讀,聽力,口語(yǔ),寫作)平均分最低,為18分,在全球排名倒數(shù)第二。但在申請(qǐng)過(guò)程中,托??谡Z(yǔ)成績(jī)卻偏偏又是北美各個(gè)學(xué)校和專業(yè)最愛設(shè)定單科分?jǐn)?shù)線的科目,大部分名校和排名靠前專業(yè)要求口語(yǔ)最低24分。顯然,口語(yǔ)已成為中國(guó)考生申請(qǐng)國(guó)外名校最大"攔路虎"。一定程度而言,口語(yǔ)成績(jī)的高低決定著你申請(qǐng)學(xué)校和專業(yè)的排名。
低分的現(xiàn)狀主要是由練習(xí)量少和方法不得當(dāng)所導(dǎo)致,很多中國(guó)學(xué)生對(duì)于口語(yǔ)練習(xí)有誤區(qū),片面追求發(fā)音,卻長(zhǎng)期忽略表達(dá)內(nèi)容的邏輯和語(yǔ)法詞匯的重要性。與之對(duì)比的是另一個(gè)亞洲國(guó)家的托??忌?,印度。這是個(gè)神奇的國(guó)度,發(fā)音彪悍的印度學(xué)生的托??谡Z(yǔ)平均分自2006年ETS(托福主考機(jī)構(gòu))在全球開展托福口語(yǔ)機(jī)考以來(lái),一直穩(wěn)定保持23分。這足以證明,托??谡Z(yǔ)真正考察的是學(xué)生語(yǔ)言實(shí)際使用能力,換而言之,是信息傳遞(get message across )的能力。
其具體體現(xiàn)在獨(dú)立題目部分能否清晰迅速表達(dá)自己觀點(diǎn),綜合題部分能否準(zhǔn)確接收、記錄和轉(zhuǎn)述信息。而印度學(xué)生之所以得到相對(duì)較高的口語(yǔ)分值,絕非仰仗語(yǔ)音語(yǔ)調(diào),而是在長(zhǎng)期使用英文過(guò)程中,養(yǎng)成了和西方人高度一致的用詞、語(yǔ)法甚至邏輯思維習(xí)慣。當(dāng)然,漂亮的發(fā)音一定可以錦上添花,只是鑒于發(fā)音的改善相對(duì)耗時(shí)較長(zhǎng),有些學(xué)生從小接觸英文時(shí),由于條件限制,師資的發(fā)音就不正規(guī),輸入了錯(cuò)誤的語(yǔ)音語(yǔ)調(diào),改起來(lái)就會(huì)相當(dāng)困難,并且,還有一小部分的學(xué)生先天生理器官缺陷,對(duì)一些音素的正確掌握就會(huì)比較吃力。所以,要想在較短時(shí)間里,有一個(gè)比較體面的分?jǐn)?shù),中國(guó)學(xué)生應(yīng)該把更多精力首先放在話題展開的思路邏輯和語(yǔ)言質(zhì)量上面,然后再用正確的方法,做好跟讀和模仿,不斷打磨語(yǔ)音語(yǔ)調(diào),方可事半功倍。
隨著教學(xué)經(jīng)驗(yàn)的逐漸豐富,我慢慢發(fā)現(xiàn),托福口語(yǔ)的提升并不是培訓(xùn)界的斯芬達(dá)克斯之謎。針對(duì)每位學(xué)員的不同情況,設(shè)定學(xué)習(xí)進(jìn)度和內(nèi)容,對(duì)薄弱環(huán)節(jié)進(jìn)行刻意練習(xí)(deliberate practice),在培訓(xùn)后,具有正常英文水平的中國(guó)學(xué)生,很容易達(dá)到23-24分。培訓(xùn)內(nèi)容包括較充分的獨(dú)立話題(Task 1 )語(yǔ)料準(zhǔn)備,以及綜合題環(huán)節(jié)(Task2-4)記筆記和復(fù)述策略(由于我獲得人事部二級(jí)口譯資格認(rèn)證,有效記錄筆記和篩選信息是課堂教學(xué)的主要內(nèi)容)。而如果學(xué)生本身就善于模仿,聲音條件佳,平時(shí)就喜歡口語(yǔ)交流,以聽英文歌、看美劇,和老外交流為享受,語(yǔ)音語(yǔ)調(diào)比較地道、漂亮,再加上老師的引導(dǎo)和完善做題理念的學(xué)習(xí),沖刺27加,也司空見慣。所以,高分沒有捷徑,只有方法。只要方法得當(dāng),口語(yǔ)達(dá)標(biāo)和高分其實(shí)并不難。
回想到我自己選擇教授托福口語(yǔ)的初心,或者說(shuō)通過(guò)我的工作,更希望達(dá)到的是教學(xué)目標(biāo)是,學(xué)生能基于口語(yǔ)備考和申請(qǐng)單科分?jǐn)?shù)線達(dá)標(biāo)的壓力,愛上口語(yǔ),將口語(yǔ)練習(xí)做為輸出自己思維和觀點(diǎn),向世界傳達(dá)中國(guó)學(xué)生聲音的工具,改變啞巴英文、無(wú)法和native speaker(說(shuō)母語(yǔ)者)對(duì)較深入話題進(jìn)行探討和溝通、無(wú)法有效表達(dá)真實(shí)想法、甚至為了45秒獨(dú)立題的fluency (流利度) 被迫在考試中over-simply(過(guò)度簡(jiǎn)單化)自己觀點(diǎn)。而口語(yǔ)蒙混過(guò)關(guān)的后果是,就算勉強(qiáng)出了國(guó),在美國(guó)的課堂上不敢張嘴,不僅會(huì)影響你的學(xué)分(課堂發(fā)言占到期末成績(jī)的30%,比期中考試還多),被老師認(rèn)為你的學(xué)習(xí)態(tài)度不端正;課下無(wú)法和同學(xué)積極互動(dòng),迷之沉默,也很容易陷入到被同學(xué)們逐漸邊緣化的的尷尬窘境。
為了讓初次接觸托??谡Z(yǔ)的寶寶更好了解托福口語(yǔ),讓我們暫時(shí)先回歸到考試本身。
首先,我們來(lái)看托??谡Z(yǔ)的題型分類和評(píng)分過(guò)程:
從大方向上看,托福口語(yǔ)的四道題可以分為獨(dú)立和綜合兩個(gè)類型(Task 1為獨(dú)立題,Task 234為綜合題)。在評(píng)分時(shí),考生的答題錄音會(huì)在經(jīng)過(guò)數(shù)碼降噪處理后被自動(dòng)分為三組,即獨(dú)立任務(wù)(第一組)、校園任務(wù)(第二組)和學(xué)術(shù)任務(wù)(第三組);再由經(jīng)過(guò)認(rèn)證的評(píng)分人分別對(duì)考生三組任務(wù)的錄音進(jìn)行評(píng)測(cè),每道題的評(píng)分等級(jí)由低到高分別用weak,limited,fair和good來(lái)標(biāo)識(shí),最后六道題的總分將被轉(zhuǎn)換為0~30分的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)分,而考生三組題目的最終得分等級(jí),也會(huì)標(biāo)示在電子成績(jī)單上(score report)。
關(guān)于評(píng)分,托福官方指南OG里面明確指出,托福口語(yǔ)6大任務(wù)的3項(xiàng)評(píng)分準(zhǔn)則包括:delivery, language use and topic development, 簡(jiǎn)單的說(shuō),即綜合考察考生的表述能力、語(yǔ)言使用能力和話題展開能力,這三項(xiàng)考核并無(wú)優(yōu)先等級(jí),各占三分之一的比重。所以,盡量做到揚(yáng)長(zhǎng)避短,避重就輕就很重要。比如,你的發(fā)音不夠完美,可以用話題展開和語(yǔ)法、詞匯來(lái)彌補(bǔ),而如果你的語(yǔ)法差,但語(yǔ)音語(yǔ)調(diào)好,只需要充分發(fā)揮這方面優(yōu)勢(shì),并注意邏輯,細(xì)節(jié)和話題拓展,也同樣可以達(dá)到不錯(cuò)的分值。
