Nature is the greatest teacher in nursery schools (幼兒園)of Scandinavia.

All across Scandinavia small children are running wild! You can find them running through grassland, with dirt on their faces and small bags on their backs. You can also find them playing in small rivers or climbing up trees. In Northern European countries, nature nursery schools are growing in popularity (becoming popular) because research shows that these “nature” children are better in many ways than the children in normal nursery schools.

Although there are different themes in different schools, nature nursery schools are most often built in a forest. A forest gives the perfect chance for a child to develop a healthy body. The forest also offers many learning chances. Children can run around as much as they want and shout as loudly as they can .Children can use their bodies to the full, climbing, swinging, carrying and jumping. What’s more, the forest is filled with playthings: a stick can be a horse to ride or be used to direct traffic. Imagination can run wild through the trees.

For these children, the world is full of life: rabbits and monkeys, wild flowers and green plants. What better way could there be to learn about animals, plants and the changing of the seasons? What better way to teach children about the world and protect the environment?

Most often, such nursery schools are "green". They buy environmentally-friendly products, and work with the idea of environmental sustainability(可持續(xù)性), such as energy-saving. In giving children a chance to develop a meaningful, friendly and responsible relationship with the natural world, it must be a regular daily practice for them to touch the earth, to hear birdsong, to collect berries and mushrooms and get to know animals and plants. In wind, rain, snow and shine, let the children run wild!

  31. The second paragraph mainly talks about the ____________.

  A. history of nature nursery schools B. popularity of nature nursery schools

  C. location of nature nursery schools D. importance of nature nursery schools

  32. We know from the passage that nature nursery schools_________.

  A. ask children to stay inside when the weather is bad.

  B. encourage children to protect the environment.

  C. are usually painted green.

  D. all have the same theme.

  33. What’s the writer’s attitude(態(tài)度)to nature nursery school?

  A. Doubtful B. Worried C. Satisfied D. Calm

Spring will soon be upon us and a new term is here. All over the world spring is the season of new life: flowers bloom, baby animals are born, and the weather becomes warmer.During this time of year, people usually walk around with a spring in their steps and a feeling of fresh beginnings. However, for a fresh beginning it takes more than the bright colors and fresh air of spring. We need to look at ourselves, set new goals, and decide how to improve ourselves.

In England people usually do this on the first day of the year. We look at the past year and think about what we' d like to change or improve in our lives, and we call this a New Year' s resolution(決心).These can be anything from improving one' s health through exercise or cutting out bad habits, to studying harder for better grades or trying to find a good work or life balance.

Luckily, we don' t have to wait for the beginning of a new year to try and become better people. We can do this whenever we like. The milestone of a new term is just a good place to start.

Sometimes it' s difficult to take the first step in achieving newly set goals, but an old saying is "to begin is to be half-way there." I agree with this because taking on a new task or changing habits can seem daunting at first, but once we begin, they get easier. For example, spending less time on QQ or playing video games and more time studying or communicating face-to-face can be difficult habits to change at first. But once we settle into the new routine and start to see the results, it' s difficult not to wonder why we didn’t do it sooner.

The trick with deciding on a resolution for a new term is not to set unrealistic targets. If we do this, it's easy to lose motivation because the end goal seems so far away. Try to make many small goals you want to reach on the way to your ultimate(最終的)goal. This way, you can see your progress easily.

  38. In Paragraph One, the writer wants to tell us that spring is a time _________.

  A. to take a walk around outdoors B. to enjoy fresh air and bright colors

  C. to set goals for a fresh beginning D. for animals to have babies

  39. Which of the following might the writer agree with according to(根據(jù)) Paragraph Four?

  A. Be swift to hear, slow to speak. B. All that ends well is well.

  C. Well begun is half done. D. All roads lead to Rome.

  40. What does the underlined word "daunting" probably mean in Paragraph Four?

  A. changeable B. difficult C. lovely D. dangerous

  41. What does the writer want to tell us in the last paragraph?

  A. If you see no progress, you'll be sad.

  B. Whatever happens, stick to (堅(jiān)持)your dreams.

  C. Never lose heart when meeting with difficulties.

  D. Your goals should be realistic and small.

A 9-year-old Detroit boy is winning lots of praise after selling lemonade to help his hometown out of financial(財(cái)政的) difficulties.

Joshua Smith set up a stand(攤位)on Monday in front of his family’s house with the goal of raising $1,000 for Detroit---the Motor City.

While on his way to attend a piano lesson, Joshua Smith heard on the radio that the city of Detroit now has big financial problems.

By the time the stand ended on Friday, Joshua raised more than $3,340, received an award for outstanding achievement, welcomed members of the University of Michigan’s men’s basketball team and earned a scholarship(獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金) of $2,000.

“I’m really happy that a lot of people supported me,” Joshua told the Daily News. “It was tiring but successful.”

“It’s been an exciting week,” said Rhonda Smith, Joshua’s mother. “Joshua was sorry for our city’s financial difficulties. One day he woke up and said, ‘Mommy, we’re going to have a lemonade stand for the city.’”.

“I think it’s fantastic,” said Smith, she encouraged the lemonade sale after Joshua told her about his plan.

  A. ask children to stay inside when the weather is bad.

  B. encourage children to protect the environment.

  C. are usually painted green.

  D. all have the same theme.

By the time the stand ended on Friday, Joshua raised more than $3,340, received an award for outstanding achievement, welcomed members of the University of Michigan’s men’s basketball team and earned a scholarship(獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金) of $2,000.

Joshua plans to ask city officials to use the money from his stand to keep a park and playground near the family’s home in good condition.

Joshua also received a call from the Detroit mayor(市長(zhǎng)). “I just want you to know we thank you for your efforts and just keep doing what you are doing,” Dave Bing told Joshua on Tuesday. “You sound like a fine young man, and I just hope that other young people use you as an example.”
