My three major interests and passions are Computer Science, Maths and Music, and I believe that there is a creative fusion between all these disciplines. I engage wholeheartedly in these areas both in my school courses and out of school, and hope that I will be able to continue doing so on my chosen course and in the extra-curricular opportunities at university.
Computer Science has quite naturally come to be my chosen field. At the age of 7, I took to playing the piano, which planted the first seeds of my interest in defined logical patterns and structure. My introduction to computing was via the logic of spreadsheets, but I then progressed to using BASIC for several applications outside lessons, including programming my own version of ‘Logo’ and an analogue clock. A major recent achievement of mine has been designing a database-driven website for my school’s Maths department, including multi-format homework question publication and report generation. This is extensively used by the department, and other departments have approached me to provide them with similar websites. This project was nominated and then short-listed for the final ten of the New Statesman’s “New Media (Educational)” award.
I look forward to studying Artificial Intelligence, and have made my own minor foray into this area by designing and developing a computer-powered Connect 4 player using a complex ‘minimax’ procedure. I also investigated ‘recurring function execution’ to simulate the ‘fill’ function of a paint package, an algorithm of which was used to develop a ‘random maze’ generator. Such mathematical-based logic led to an increased appetite especially for researching the use of computing with mathematics – I extensively investigated ‘perfect numbers’, determining the 8th perfect number (2305843008139952128).
I involve myself in the full life of the school and am pleased to have ways of passing on my enthusiasms to others. I have been appointed a Maths Prefect, which involves running a weekly Maths club, and also helping younger students in ‘work recovery’ sessions. I was also elected onto the School Council for 4 years in my previous school.
My passion for music has further developed in secondary school and led to eager participation in school musical productions for four years as the main pianist (which led to my employment as accompanist for a professional opera singer and singing teacher). I have achieved grade 8 at piano, and have thoroughly enjoyed performing regularly at a variety of venues such as weddings, retirement homes, at charity events, for the visually impaired, and most of all, the opportunity to conduct an orchestra at Fairfield Hall performing my own composition. I am looking forward to playing the 3rd Movement of Tchaikovsky’s 1st Piano Concerto with the school orchestra this December, exhibiting my love for classical music, especially given that my favourite works are those of Debussy and Tchaikovsky.
I was delighted recently when I was given the opportunity to combine my musical pursuits and computer interests by my employment for a commercial software company writing music. I have much appreciated being able to develop my above interests alongside enjoyment of hobbies such as Table-tennis, chess, and reading of a broad spectrum of books.

烏克蘭留學(xué)生活是怎樣的呢?
一、氣候宜人
它屬于溫帶大陸型，比較宜居，平均溫度不高，夏天比較涼爽，冬季氣溫稍微低一些，注意防寒保暖。
南方的同學(xué)很少看到雪，但到了這里，能夠有更多機(jī)會(huì)欣賞到雄偉壯觀的雪景，一片白雪皚皚，這時(shí)，和幾個(gè)朋友一起組團(tuán)購(gòu)買團(tuán)票，去滑雪場(chǎng)滑雪，打雪仗，其樂(lè)融融。
屋內(nèi)是有暖氣的，注意把窗門關(guān)上，防止感冒，提前備好一些常用的藥片是很明智的。畢竟生病后到藥店買藥和去診所就醫(yī)，都需要走一段路。凡事提前預(yù)判好，能夠有效避免掉一些不必要的麻煩，給生活帶來(lái)極大的便利。
二、環(huán)境舒適
有很多的旅游景點(diǎn)，植被特別的豐富，森林覆蓋面積大，環(huán)境特別優(yōu)美，不管是校園里，還是出了校門，都能望見(jiàn)一片蔥郁的樹(shù)林和綠意盎然的草坪，抬頭也能看見(jiàn)蔚藍(lán)的天空和自由飛翔的鳥(niǎo)類。
當(dāng)?shù)鼐用駸崆楹每停己苡押?，若有外地人不認(rèn)識(shí)路，會(huì)很耐心地做溝通指引，如果對(duì)方聽(tīng)不懂，會(huì)配合上夸張的肢體語(yǔ)言動(dòng)作，盡可能讓其明白。
如果就讀于藝術(shù)院校，會(huì)發(fā)現(xiàn)大多數(shù)教授都是音樂(lè)家，對(duì)人很親切，對(duì)學(xué)生十分照顧、無(wú)微不至地給予關(guān)心，也喜歡出入話劇院和歌劇廳。
每所大學(xué)的設(shè)施都很完善，引進(jìn)了先進(jìn)的體育器材，修建了類型多樣化的場(chǎng)館，包括籃球館、搏擊館、游泳館、跳水臺(tái)等，能憑借興趣來(lái)選修某項(xiàng)運(yùn)動(dòng)，女生參加瑜伽課、健美操的人數(shù)挺多的。
早晨或晚上都會(huì)又一波接著一波的居民和學(xué)生來(lái)到操場(chǎng)跑步，還有的老爺爺拉吊環(huán)和雙杠，另外，有跟著廣播音樂(lè)跳舞的阿姨。不愛(ài)鍛煉的人也會(huì)不知不覺(jué)被這全民健身的氛圍所感染，慢慢加入健身或者減肥的行列，成為健身達(dá)人。
街上十分干凈，政府注重環(huán)保，待在這里久了，能夠感覺(jué)到濃濃的藝術(shù)氣息，為什么呢?因?yàn)殡S處可見(jiàn)“涂鴉”，不是亂寫亂畫，而是城市里的靈魂畫手們?cè)趬ι匣蛘叩孛胬L畫出的天馬行空的創(chuàng)意、感想、意境。
三、文化多元
它融合了多個(gè)民族，歷史悠久，也正因?yàn)槿绱耍〕?，亦或是大都市，無(wú)一不散發(fā)著獨(dú)特的魅力。
主要講著三種語(yǔ)言(Ukrainian、Russian、English)，就像美妙的交響樂(lè)匯聚在一起，奏響了地域文明的壯麗樂(lè)章。
不排斥外來(lái)物，尊重一切優(yōu)秀成果，主張相互包容。
長(zhǎng)期與有著豐富閱歷的朋友相處，人生態(tài)度和理念也會(huì)日趨完善。
烏克蘭留學(xué)省錢技巧
一、規(guī)劃費(fèi)用
大家在學(xué)年初，就應(yīng)該對(duì)自己的挪威的開(kāi)銷，進(jìn)行一個(gè)有規(guī)劃的安排，在這一年大概要花多少錢，可以進(jìn)行大致區(qū)間的預(yù)測(cè)，因?yàn)榇蠊P的開(kāi)銷如吃和住，是相對(duì)固定的。
而其他的支出，只占有比較少的一部分，即便有比較大的差異，基礎(chǔ)在那里，不會(huì)對(duì)大家的生活產(chǎn)生很大的影響，不過(guò)如果有額外大筆的開(kāi)銷，需要進(jìn)行額外的準(zhǔn)備。
二、安排出行
一般學(xué)生的生活場(chǎng)所，會(huì)圍繞學(xué)校進(jìn)行輻射，大家大部分時(shí)間生活的空間，是比較狹窄的，所以基本上不會(huì)有遠(yuǎn)距離的出行，所以大家除了往返國(guó)內(nèi)，基本上不會(huì)有大筆的出行支出。
而平時(shí)的出行，基本上都是使用地鐵或者公交來(lái)代步的，這個(gè)時(shí)候大家一定要辦一張交通卡，大家出行的次數(shù)越多，能夠省下的錢也會(huì)越多，因?yàn)槊看味伎梢源蛘邸?/p>
三、確定住宿
雖然住校在安全和便利上都有很大的優(yōu)勢(shì)，但是對(duì)照起價(jià)格，還是租房中的合租會(huì)更劃算一些，人數(shù)越多越劃算，而且住宿的環(huán)境會(huì)比住校更還一些，規(guī)模也會(huì)大一些。
所以大家如果前期的準(zhǔn)備做好了，并且能夠提前找好合租的室友，不妨一開(kāi)始就選擇合租，畢竟大家每年的生活開(kāi)銷中，住宿是的一筆，如果能夠在這方面找到合適的省錢方式，將有效降低留學(xué)的成本。
四、折扣購(gòu)物
不管大家怎樣安排自己的生活，日用品的采購(gòu)都是不能夠避免的，這部分的內(nèi)容只能夠在價(jià)格下花功夫，即盡量選擇商場(chǎng)打折的時(shí)候進(jìn)行采購(gòu)，能夠從成本上降低開(kāi)銷。
一般在周末和節(jié)假日的時(shí)候，商場(chǎng)都會(huì)進(jìn)行一些大的折扣活動(dòng)，來(lái)促進(jìn)消費(fèi)，畢竟搞活動(dòng)也是需要花錢的，這個(gè)時(shí)候大家就不要錯(cuò)過(guò)了。
