大學(xué)四級(jí)英語文章篇1
Lady, Are You Rich?
They huddled inside the storm door -- two children in ragged outgrown coats.
"Any old papers, lady?"
I was busy. I wanted to say no -- until I looked down at their feet.
Thin little sandals, sopped with sleet.
"Come in and I'll make you a cup of hot cocoa."
There was no conversation. Their soggy sandals left marks upon the hearthstone.
I served them cocoa and toast with jam to fortify against the chill outside.
Then I went back to the kitchen and started again on my household budget.
The silence in the front room struck through to me. I looked in. The girl held the empty cup in her hands, looking at it. The boy asked in a flat voice," Lady ... are you rich?"
"Am I rich? Mercy, no!" I looked at my shabby slipcovers. The girl put her cup back in its saucer -- carefully.
"Your cups match your saucers."
Her voice was old, with a hunger that was not of the stomach. They left then, holding their bundles of papers against the wind. They hadn't said thank you.
They didn't need to. They had done more than that. Plain blue pottery cups and saucers. But they matched.
I tested the potatoes and stirred the gravy. Potatoes and brown gravy, a roof over our heads, my man with a good steady job -- these things matched, too.
I moved the chairs back from the fire and tidied the living room. The muddy prints of small sandals were still wet upon my hearth. I let them be.
I want them there in case I ever forget again how very rich I am.

Were I supposed to introduce one place in my campus for my foreign friend, the first place come up to our mind automatically is the student pavilion.
The reason why I am in favor of it is that student pavilion plays a positive role in improving students’ studies. Due to their heavy schedules, students are often busy with textbooks and seldom expose themselves to a colorful life. But the place holds a variety of activities from time to time ranging from academic to recreational, such as academic reports, speech contests, painting’s clubs, etc. All these activities provide opportunities for students to enrich their knowledge and relax themselves.
All in all, student pavilion opens the door for students to develop and enjoy themselves. I am sure if you come to the student pavilion, you’ll be bound to love it.
大學(xué)四級(jí)英語文章篇3
Each year, numerous university graduates stop at a fork on the road to put their four years’ knowledge and experience into application. Lying ahead are two possible paths in two directions, leading to an unknown future: one is to find a job somewhere and the other to start a business of your own. The question never fails to confuse the youngsters.
Ideas conflict on the choice because choice is to be for advantages and against disadvantages, but no one knows which move is the best for the rest of life journey. For one thing, to find a job means, as an employee, to be recruited by a company, with mature system and managerial structure helping an fresh staff quickly adapt to the working environment. For another thing, to start a business of your own indicates to run a business with your own hands, which provides a possibility to be more active, creative and productive.
As for me, without business family and background, it is advisable to find a job rather than to start a business of my own, because only in this way can I learn with the directors and colleagues, being familiar with working process and enriching social experience.
