新鄉(xiāng)市2017屆高三能力提升英語試卷分析
閱讀下列短文,從每題所給的四個選項(A、B、C和D)中,選出最佳選項,并在答題卡上將該項涂黑。
A
I remember the first time that I was extremely happy. I was about 8 years old when for the first time, there was a computer in the classroom. I remember that my teacher allowed each student to take turns to play various educational games on the computer. One day, I found the source code(編碼)for one of these games. Without knowing or being taught any programming language, I was able to figure out some of the BASIC code. I just gave myself an infinite number of lives in the game, so I could continue playing it forever. This was also my first introduction to algebra, and I didn't even know it at the time. This was a decisive moment in my life. I was quite excited because of what I was learning and what I was able to do. As a result, I was enthusiastic for the rest of my life about self learning and computers, and I was quite happy doing them too.
I've noticed that people who are truly content with life are enthusiastic about what they do. This enthusiasm, along with good health, is the key to being happy. It also leads to self-confidence and content in life too. It may also lead to success, wealth, and achievements.
Success, wealth, or achievements can also bring some people happiness, yet I know plenty of rich people who are unhappy. I know many people with successful businesses that are not happy with what they are doing. I know people who continuously buy themselves new toys, such as cars, computers, and televisions, yet never seem content for too long. Please remember, happiness is the journey of life, not the destination.
21. What can we know from Paragraph 1?
A. The author has a great talent for algebra.
B. Creative thinking is necessary for every child.
C. The BASIC code of the computer is not difficult.
D. The author's experience in his childhood changed his life.
22. The underlined word "infinite" means .
A. big B. limitless C. normal D. small
23. The author wants to tell us through his experience in the school that
A. interest is the best teacher B. children are the hope of the future
C. young people are fearless D. where there's a will, there's a way
24. We can infer from the last paragraph that .
A. people who are rich and successful in career generally feel unhappy
B. wealth can't bring people any happiness and comfort
C. one will feel unhappy once he has gained all the things that he wants
D. being enthusiastic about what you do is more important than wealth
B
Parents should stop blaming themselves because there’s not a lot they can do about it. I mean the teenager problem. Whatever you do or however you choose to deal with it, at certain times a wonderful, reasonable and helpful child will turn into a terrible animal. I've seen friends deal with it in all kinds of different ways. One strict mother insisted that her son, right from a child, should stand up whenever anyone entered the room, open doors and shake hands like a gentleman. I saw him last week when I called round. Sprawling (懶散地躺))himself on the sofa in full length, he made no attempt to turn off the loud TV he was watching as I walked in, and his greeting was no more than a quick glance at me. His mother was ashamed. “I don’t know what to do with him these days,” she said. “He’s forgotten all the manners we taught him.” He hasn’t forgotten them. He’s just decided that he’s not going to use them. She confessed (坦白 ) that she would like to come up behind him and throw him down from the sofa onto the floor. Another good friend of mine let her two daughters climb all over the furniture, reach across the table, stare at me and say, “I don’t like your dress; it’s ugly. ” One of the daughters has recently been driven out of school. The other has left home. “Where did we go wrong?” Her parents are now very sad. Probably nowhere much. At least, no more than the rest of that unfortunate race, parents. 25. This passage is most probably written by_________. A. a specialist in teenager studies B. a headmaster of a middle school C. a parent with teenage children D. a doctor for mental health problems 26. The underlined word “it” in the second paragraph refers to________. A. the change from good to bad that's seen in a child B. the way that parents often blame themselves C. the opinion that a child has of his parents D. the advice that parents want their children to follow 27. From the second example we can infer that the parents of the two daughters _________. A. pay no attention to them B. are too busy to look after them C. have come to hate them D. feel helpless to do much about them 28. What is the author’s opinion about the sudden change in teenage children? A. Parents have no choice but to try to accept it. B. Parents should pay still more attention to the change. C. Parents should work more closely with school teachers. D. Parents are at fault for the change in their children.

Life in the Clear
Transparent animals let light pass through their bodies the same way light passes through a window. These animals typically live between the surface of the ocean and a depth of about 3,300 feet—as far as most light can reach. Most of them are extremely delicate and can be damaged by a simple touch. Sonke Johnsen, a scientist in biology, says, “These animals live through their life alone. They never touch anything unless they’re eating it, or unless something is eating them.” And they are as clear as glass. How does an animal become see-through? It’s trickier than you might think. The objects around you are visible because they interact with light. Light typically travels in a straight line. But some materials slow and scatter(散射) light, bouncing it away from its original path. Others absorb light, stopping it dead in its tracks. Both scattering and absorption make an object look different from other objects around it, so you can see it easily. But a transparent object doesn’t absorb or scatter light, at least not very much, Light can pass through it without bending or stopping. That means a transparent object doesn’t look very different from the surrounding air or water. You don’t see it—you see the things behind it. To become transparent, an animal needs to keep its body from absorbing or scattering light. Living materials can stop light because they contain pigments(色素) that absorb specific colors of light. But a transparent animal doesn’t have pigments, so its tissues won’t absorb light. According to Johnsen, avoiding absorption is actually easy. The real challenge is preventing light from scattering. Animals are built of many different materials—skin, fat, and more—and light moves through each at a different speed. Every time light moves into a material with a new speed, it bends and scatters. Transparent animals use different tricks to fight scattering. Some animals are simply very small or extremely flat. Without much tissue to scatter light, it is easier to be see—through. Others build a large, clear mass of non-living jelly-lie(果凍狀的) material and spread themselves over it . Larger transparent animals have the biggest challenge, because they have to make all the different tissues in their bodies slow down light exactly as much as water does. They need to look uniform. But how they’re doing it is still unknown. One thing is clear for these larger animals, staying transparent is an active process. When they die, they turn a non-transparent milky white. 29.According to Paragraph 1, transparent animals _______. A. stay in groups B. can be easily damaged C. appear only in deep ocean D. are beautiful creatures 30.The underlined word “dead” in Paragraph 3 means __________. A. silently B. gradually C. regularly D. completely 31.One way for an animal to become transparent is to ________. A. change the direction of light travel B. gather materials to scatter light C. avoid the absorption of light D. grow bigger to stop light 32.The last paragraph tells us that larger transparent animals ________. A. move more slowly in deep water B. stay see-through even after death C. produce more tissues for their survival D. take effective action to reduce light spreading

Did you know that a bowl of rice could save your iPod if you drop it in a swimming pool by accident? Or that the camera on your phone could tell you what's wrong with your TV remote control? The experts at Geek Squad (geelsquad.co.uk) have made a gadget(小機件) rescue guide. So, let’s take a look at some of their useful advice. How to get more juice out of your phone battery? If your battery goes dead but you need to get a number or send one last text, try warming it up. That may give you a tiny bit of power. Take the battery from the phone and rub it between your hands. Or warm it under your arm for a few minutes. Then try to start the phone – but use it quickly. What to do if your gadget gets wet? First, try drying it out with a vacuum cleaner. If a vacuum cleaner isn’t at hand, fill a pot or bowl with uncooked rice and put your we gadget inside. The dry, uncooked rice will absorb all the water and, after a few hours, you should be able to use the gadget. Don’t forget to remove the battery and SIM card before you dry it. What to do if your TV remote control stops working? If replacing the batteries doesn’t work, get the camera function up on your phone and point the remote at the lens(鏡頭). When you press a button on the remote, if it's working then the glass bobble(小球) at the front of the remote will light up when you look at it on the screen of your phone. This is because the screen on a phone or digital camera picks up infrared rays (紅外線), even though your eyes don't. If the glass bobble doesn’t light up, the remote is broken. If it does, the receiving device is broken.
33. If your cell phone falls into a sink, you can . A. warm it up under your arm. B. put it into the uncooked rice. C. press it with both of your hands. D. remove the battery after you dry it. 34.Why can a phone be used to prove the TV remote control works well? A. Because it can receive infrared ray.
B. Because it can reflect infrared ray. C. Because it can improve the TV remote control.
D. Because it can picture the TV remote control. 35. In which section of a newspaper can we possibly read this text? A. Entertainment B. Finance C. Culture D. Life

Building Trust in a Relationship Again
Trust is a learned behavior that we gain from past experiences. 36 That is a risk. But you can’t be successful when there’s a lack of trust in a relationship that results from an action where the wrongdoer takes no responsibility to fix the mistake.
Unfortunately, we’ve all been victims of betrayal. Whether we’ve been, lied to, misled, or cheated, there are different levels of losing trust. Sometimes people simply can’t trust anymore. 37 It’s understandable, but if you’re willing to build trust in a relationship again, we have some steps you can take to get you there.
38 Having confidence in yourself will help you make better choices because you can see what the best outcome would be for your well-being.
39 If you’ve been betrayed, you are the victim of your circumstance. But there’s a difference between being a victim and living with a “victim mentality”. At some point in all of our lives, we’ll have our trust tested or violated.
You didn’t lose “everything”. Once trust is lost, what is left? Instead of looking at the situation from this hopeless angle, look at everything you still have and be thankful for all of the good in your life. 40 Instead, it’s a healthy way to work through the experience to allow room for positive growth and forgiveness.
A. Learn to really trust yourself.
B. It is putting confidence in someone.
C. Stop regarding yourself as the victim.
D. Remember that you can expect the best in return.
E. They’ve been too badly hurt and they can’t bear to let it happen again.
F. This knowledge carries over in their attitude toward their future relationships.
G. Seeing the positive side of things doesn’t mean you’re ignoring what happened.

Dear Sir or Madam,
I’m Li Hua from Class One, Senior Two. As far as I am concerned, I believe to teach English for pupils from Chen Xi Hope School will be good for both the primary-school students and high-school student tutor, which thus will result in substantial social benefits.
I think I am qualified for being the pupils’ English coach, because I have good character, being independent in life and proficient in English. That’s why I apply for the position; I hope I can join the instructive activity.
My plan for coaching the pupils is to teach them by listening, speaking, reading and writing. What’s more important is to stimulate their interests in learning English as a foreign language, creating a good learning environment. I hope you can offer the opportunity.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
