Everyone may have the experience to stay alone while his or her parents are out.
One day last year, both of my parents went out for their business. So I had to live on my own. I went to school and came back home as usual. I cooked dinner for myself, did my homework carefully, and went to bed on time. When my parents came back, they were happy to see I was able to take good care of myself!
I think we shouldn’t depend too much on our parents, but learn to stand on our own feet. Nothing is impossible if we try our best.

M: A friend of mine works at a movie company. He sold two to me for apiece.

M: Not really, considering the fact that other people were willing to pay as much as 0 each on the “black market”.
W: That’s true. So, what time are we going?
M: Well, the movie starts at 10:00. We should get there one hour earlier because there’ll be a big line. I could pick you up at your house at 8:00, if that’s OK with you.
W: 8:00 pm? That’s fine.
M: Great. See you then.
請聽一段獨白,完成第14至第16小題。
Today, I want to tell you about the Good Food Show at the Capital Food Centre. I really enjoyed my visit.
First I looked at the books on sale. Jane Adams, the famous television cook, was there signing copies of her latest book. It’s about making cakes so I had to have it!
In fact, there’s advice on all sorts of topics. I listened to someone from the centre market talking about what you should look for when you buy fish. I’ve always been nervous about buying it, because how can you tell if it’s really fresh? Well, I think I’ve got a better idea now.
Then, in the cook theatre, I saw a cook prepare a healthy but tasty lunch using only vegetables! Also in the theatre, at 2 o’clock every day, a cook talks about preparing delicious sandwiches in under 15 minutes.
At the show, you can try food from all around the world, for example, from Chile to China, and I did! I enjoyed the food from Canada most of all, although everything I tasted was really good.
The Food Show is open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. from Monday to Saturday and 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 on Sundays. But hurry, because the last day is the 23rd of March, and then the Good Food Show has to make way for the Boat Show. For details, phone …

W: Yes, that’s right. I’ve been staying with my aunt and now my cousin is arriving from Singapore and my aunt needs the room for him.
M: Oh, that’s bad luck. Well, I’ll need to get some detailed information first. Sara, what’s your full name?
W: Sara Liz. S – A – R – A, L – I – Z.
M: Mmm. How old are you, Sara?
W: Twenty-three, only just. It was my birthday on the twenty-first of August.
M: Happy birthday for yesterday. How long have you been in Australia?
W: One year in Melbourne and one year in Sydney. I prefer Sydney. I’ve got more friends here.
M: What’s your address at your aunt’s house?
W: Flat one, five three nine Forest Road, Canterbury. And the post code is two, zero, three, six.
M: OK. What are you studying now?
W: I’m doing Academic English, because I’m trying to get into Medicine next year.
M: That sounds good. But it’ll take you a long time. When would you like to move out from your aunt’s?
W: My cousin arrives on next Friday morning, so I’d better be out on next Tuesday.
M: What? The twenty-seventh of August?
W: Yes, that’s right.
M: OK. I’ll let you know soon if we have a good host family.
