Students these days often have a lot of worries. Sometimes they have problems with their schoolwork, and sometimes with their friends. ▲ . Some people think the worst thing is to do nothing. Laura Mills, a teenager from Washington, agrees. “Problems and worries are normal in life,” says Laura. “But I think talking to someone helps a lot. If we don’t talk to someone, we’ll certainly feel worse.”

Laura once lost her purse, and worried for days. She was afraid to tell her parents about it. She even walked three miles to school each day because she didn’t have any money. She just kept thinking. “If I tell my parents, they’ll be angry!” But in the end, she talked to her parents and they were really understanding. Her dad said he sometimes made careless mistakes himself. They got her a new purse and asked her to be more careful. “I will always remember to share my problems in the future!” Laura says.

Robert Hunt advises students about common problems. He feels the same way as Laura. “It is best not to avoid our problems. We should always try to solve them.” He thinks that you can first find someone to talk to. This person doesn’t need to be an expert (專家) like himself. Students often forget that their parents have more experience than them, and are always there to help them.

In English, we say that sharing a problem is like cutting it in half. So you’re halfway to solving a problem if you talk to someone about it!

Different colours can affect us in many different ways, according to Allen. In her new series "Colour me Healthy", Allen looks at the ways that colours can influence how hard we work and the choices we make. They can even change our feelings and even influence how healthy we are.

"Have you ever noticed how people always use the same colours for the same things?" says Allen. "Our toothpaste(牙膏) is always white or blue or maybe red. It's never green. Why not? For some reason we think that blue and white is clean, while we think of green products to be a bit disgusting. It's the same for businesses. We respect a company which writes its name in blue or black, but we don't respect one that uses pink or orange. People who design new products can use these ideas to influence what we buy."

During this four-part series, Allen studies eight different colours, two colors in each programme. She meets people who work in all aspects of the colour industry, from people who design food packets, to people who name the colours of lipsticks. Some of the people she meets clearly have very little scientific knowledge to support their ideas, such as the American "Colour Doctor" who believes that serious diseases can be cured by the use of coloured lights. However, she also interviews real scientists who are studying the effects of green and red lights on mice, with some surprising results.

Overall, it's an interesting show, and anyone who watches it will probably find out something new. But because Allen makes a special effort to be polite to everyone she meets on the series, it's up to you to make your own decisions about how much you should believe.

  51. According to Allen in Paragraph 2, why is a knowledge of colour important?

  A. It can help you choose the best products. B. It can help you save a lot of money.

  C. It can help cure serious diseases. D. It can help you sell products.

  52. The underlined word "disgusting" probably means_______.

  A. pleasant B. popular C. unpleasant D. unpopular

  53. Which of the following would be the best title for the text?

  A. Enjoy it, but don't believe everything.

  B. Another great show from Allen!

  C. Don't miss this if you work in Business!

  D. Watch this programme! It will make you healthy!

  Why you should think big

If you have something valuable in mind, something to offer, or an idea to develop, then you present it to everyone to increase its scope(范圍). Why not make full use of it?

The fact is, when you have a strong enough vision(遠(yuǎn)見), you may have the courage. And then you simply have to get it, however crazy it might seem to others.

  Remember that everything starts small

Rome wasn’t built in a day. Everything starts small. Scientists say that everything in the universe came from a smaller unit than you can possibly imagine. So it doesn’t matter where you are at present, because from small beginnings come great things.

Think bigger by learning from others

To think big, you need to see yourself as a small part of a greater whole. Learn from people who are better than you. If you’re not the most organized person, don’t just be unhappy about it; find someone who is better.

Big thinkers know their personal limitations(局限性). Gather people around you who can do what you can’t do to make sure your dream grows.

Think big by focusing on future regrets(遺憾)

There is an old saying, “We regret not the things we did do, but the things we didn’t.” You’ll never know how far it could go unless you see how far you can take something.

If you have big plans, just close your eyes. And strongly imagine how regretful you will be if you don’t try properly.

Feel that it is your human duty to think big

When something is probably a real good thing to mankind, then it is a human duty to think and act big. Even if you don’t succeed at last, it is still valuable to think big.

  Think Big

What thinking big means  If you have something valuable in mind, you should make full use of it.

 You should try to get it with your 1 .

How to train yourself to think big  Remember that every big thing starts from a 2 one.

 It is not 3 where you are at present.

 See yourself as a small part of a greater whole.

 You should gather 4 people around you to make sure of the growing of your dream because everyone has shortcomings(缺點).
