Coco is one of the most culturally-diverse human family drama which has already impressed all with its heartfelt trailer.

The movie is about 12-year-old Miguel (Gonzalez), an aspiring guitarist from a rural Mexican town, whose family of shoemakers has banned music. After borrowing the skeleton guitar of his great-great-grandfather and musical icon, Ernesto de la Cruz (Bratt), Miguel gets transported to the Land of the Dead during Día de los Muertos, where he tries to reclaim his family heritage and return home with the help of trickster skeleton Hector (Bernal).

Coco is poised to be the next Oscar Hopeful from the Disney-Pixar stable of Academy Award-winning movies.

The movie will be releasing on Friday, this week and here are 5 reasons why you should watch Coco:

  Laugh and Cry with Coco:

Early on, the film establishes that Dia de los Muertos (The Day Of The Dead) is the one day out of the year when the dead are allowed to return to the land of the living and visit their relatives. The scenes in which living families reunite with loved ones who have died will conjure quite a many emotional memories for viewers. But in true Pixar tradition there is amazingly goofy humor and catchy musical numbers to lighten the mood. A street mutt named Dante that Miguel befriended on the living side accompanies him on his journey will evoke a lot of laughs for sure!

  Coco Makes Skeletons Fun:

How do you make skeletons express emotion? According to character art director Daniel Arriaga, the Pixar team went through concept after concept until they struck the right balance of eyes, lips, bone structure and face paint to give each character a unique look and personality. Catch the eerie but stunningly animated skeletons work their magic in the film

  Love and Family First:

Coco, amidst all the fun and laughs, serious elements, has the one strong message of love and family first, and there is no better way to beautifully learn this with the entire family than at the movies!

Frozen's Olaf is Back with Coco:

We all remember the movie Frozen. Now for all you Olaf, the snowman fans out there, we have special news that there is going to a short film called Olaf's Frozen Adventure attached to Coco.

In the 21-minute featurette Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, Olaf teams up with Sven on a merry mission to bring home the best traditions and save Anna and Elsa’s first Christmas in forever.

  Uplifting and foot tapping music:

Groovy Mexican styles that have been recorded for the soundtrack include son jarocho -- performed by Grupo Mono Blanco -- and banda played by Oaxacan musicians, as well as love songs crooned by fictional Mexican music idol Ernesto de la Cruz, voiced by Benjamin Bratt. Miguel (Anthony Gonzalez), who is Pixar’s first Latino protagonist, plays some impressive guitar. The film scenes have been beautifully complemented with a mesmerising soundtrack.

Directed by Lee Unkrich and co-directed by Adrian Molina, Coco also stars Anthony Gonzalez, Gael García Bernal and Benjamin Bratt.
