Love and Company—After watching Hachi
Title: Hachi: A Dog's Tale (2009)
Director: Lasse Hallstrm
Plot Summary
This is a film about a dog and a man, which is adapted from a real story. Hachi is a homeless dog who was adopted by Parker, a professor. Every morning, Hachi would accompany Parker to the station and wait him at the station every afternoon. Unfortunately, Parker passed away because of illness. Then Hachi spent 10 years waiting for his master at the same place and time.
Recommendation
When I watched this film, I was so touched that I couldn’t help weeping. What made me cry was not the life-death parting between Parker and Hachi but the love and company they had devoted to each other. All these years, they played together, bathed together, slept together and Parker gave Hachi a thorough massage every day. In this long process, they had become each other’s closest companion. Even Parker had gone, Hachi remembered their appointment and insisted his loyalty, so he waited every day.
This is Hachi’s whole life, spending almost all his life doing one thing, from a healthy and strong dog to an old and clumsy one. Just as what Parker had said at that snowy day: You can stay with me in a warm and nice house. Hachi is still waiting, which can also give warmth to everyone who has known the story, a story about love and company.
