● Teaching Aims:
1. To understand and master the words and expressions in Reading passage.
2.To improve the students’ reading ability. To develop the Ss’ ability and skills of guessing words and reading comprehension.
3.To lead the Ss to discuss the effects of cellphones
● Teaching Points:
1.To train the reading comprehension to the whole passage
2.To improve Ss ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
3. To make a breakthrough in reading teaching by combining all kinds of ways of teaching together in one lecture, and let students in all levels make their own steps.
● Teaching Materials:
Blackboard, Computers , Projector(投影儀), Tape Recorder.
● Teaching Procedures:
Step 1 Warming up(5min)
Describe the functions of cellphones, and let students guess “what is it ?”
How many students who have cellphines in our class?
Step 2 Pre-reading(5min)
Task: Discuss these questions (pair work)
1) How is the way we live today different from life in the past?
2) Why are things like cellphones , computers and TV so popular?
Goal: This is warming-up before reading. Pair work can let students know more about cellphones and some new words: function, call for, dial, obey, behavior, etc
Step 3 Reading(25min)
Task:
1) Fast reading (Individual work)
Q: (1) What does the reading talk about? (cellphone)
(2)Who didn’t dare to use the phone in school, because they would take it away from him? (John Hill)
Goal: Train students to glance through the passage quickly to get the specific information and neglect other information
2) Careful reading (Group work)
Fill in the blanks on P60
Goal: Train students how to find out the right answers and fill in the blanks
3) Design your own cellphone. (group work)

Goal: Cellphonesl have great effects on students’ life and study.Through discussion, students can exchange their thoughts and know the bad and good effects of cellphones.
Step 5 Homework:(2min)
Task: Write a passage about“Should students be allowed to use cellphones in school?”
Goal: This task may improve students’ ability of writing and expressing themselves.
