購物英語聽力篇1
Every weekend, I go shopping downtown with a friend, but it is more of a hobby than anything else. I usually take a little cash, but I also have a credit card in case I need to charge something. I just make sure I don't go into too much debt spending money I really don't have. I mainly visit department and clothing stores to check out the latest fashions. If I find something on sale at an unbeatable price, I sometimes buy it. I make sure to keep the receipt in case I have to return the item. I really enjoy walking along the store fronts and gazing into the windows to see what the store is selling. At other times, I like looking at the displays in stores or strolling through shopping centers. Sometimes, something like a shirt or jeans catches my eye, but I'm not a compulsiveshopper, so I never buy the first thing I see. Many times, I come home without buying a thing.

購物英語聽力篇3
CARL: I think we should do the floors before we work on the curtains and walls.
SUE: Why? It doesn't make sense.
If we do the floors first, and then paint the walls,
we will get paint all over our new floor.
CARL: Hmm. Maybe you're right. But I can't stand all this green carpet in here.
And besides, I know how to paint. I will just cover everything with drop cloth.
I won't get anything on the floor.
SUE: Are you sure?
CARL: Yes, I'm sure. I've done a lot of house painting in my life.
And my mother was very picky.
If I got even a tiny drop of paint on her furniture, she would get furious.
So I learned to be very careful.
SUE: Alright. Then maybe we can do the floor first.
These wood floors under this carpet are beautiful.
And me too--I can't wait to get all this old carpet out of here.
But how can we get it out? Do we have to hire someone?
CARL: Absolutely not. We can remove the carpet ourselves.
Carpet is held down with carpet nails. You just need to pull it hard and it comes up.
SUE: Great.
Then, after we remove the carpet, we need to restain all the wood floors. Right?
CARL: Yes. But we should hire someone for that.
That will probably be expensive. And it has to be done right.
SUE: And then, after the floors are done, we can start to move our furniture in.
CARL: Sure. If we can get an appointment with someone to do the floors,
we should probably be able to have the furniture in here after a week or so.
I can get all the carpet out this weekend.
SUE: So, after the floors are done, and after the furniture is in,
we need to redo the curtains and paint all the walls and ceilings.
CARL: I'm the painter.
You can be in charge of going to curtain shops to choose curtains.
That will probably be pretty expensive too. Having good curtains made isn't cheap.
SUE: You mean we can't just buy curtains already made?
CARL: Absolutely not.
The windows must be measured, and then the curtains need to be made professionally.
So that will take awhile. Maybe a month or so.
SUE: While the curtains are being made, I can start having people look at the kitchen.
I can't stand that old kitchen. I won't be able to cook in there.
I don't want to use that electric stove.
CARL: We will need to find an interior decorating company do redo the kitchen.
I believe in Portland there are shops that specialize in kitchen renovation.
I will look in the Yellow Pages. I'd like a kitchen mostly in ivory and light green.
SUE: I agree. The colors must be soft and pleasant.
You should feel comfortable when you cook our dinners.
CARL: Me? Cook our dinners? Hah! You will be cooking, dear. You will cook.
SUE: No, I don't think so. I'll be too busy having tea in our new tea room.
CARL: Well, I suppose we'll have to hire a cook then.
So you won't be able to afford any clothes next year.
SUE: And you'll have to sell your motorcycle. And your cameras. Right?
CARL: Maybe I'll cook once or twice a week. How is that?
SUE: Four times might be enough. Not once or twice.

ALEX: Can I help you?
SHERRY: Yes, I need to buy a computer for this semester.
I was told it is cheaper to buy computers here.
ALEX: Well, you heard right.
You can get an excellent deal on a new computer here.
We have great discounts for students.
SHERRY: I don't know much about computers.
But I know I want a desktop computer with a lot of memory. And I need a printer.
ALEX: Well, first let's consider your computer.
Here, for example, is a system I highly recommend--the Power Macintosh G3.
It comes with 64 megabytes of total memory.
SHERRY: Is that a lot? Sixty-four?
ALEX: Yes, it is. It should be enough for any student needs you might have.
What department are you in?
SHERRY: History.
ALEX: Well, so you will mostly be using word processing, for writing papers.
I recommend the Corel Word Perfect program for word processing.
We can talk about software later. Let's talk about your hardware first.
We have a special deal on right now.
I should tell you about it, as it only goes until next Tuesday.
If you buy one of these fifteen-inch color monitors with a Power Macintosh G3,
you can actually get 30 percent off the usual sale price.
SHERRY: Thirty percent?
ALEX: Yes.
SHERRY: Wow. That's really good.
And you think this is really a good system for a graduate student?
ALEX: Yes. It's an excellent system.
SHERRY: Hmm. Hey, wait. This has an Apple on it. Is this an Apple computer?
ALEX: Yes, it's a Macintosh. It's Apple. Macintosh and Apple are the same thing.
SHERRY: I don't want Macintosh. I want PC.
ALEX: I'm sorry, but our university computer center only sells Macintosh equipment.
SHERRY: What? Are you serious?
ALEX: Yes.
SHERRY: But nobody uses Macintosh!
ALEX: That's not true.
Most of the students and professors in the university here use Macintosh.
They find it is better for writing and word-processing,
and that is what students mostly do. May I ask where you're from?
SHERRY: Yes, I'm from Taiwan.
ALEX: Well, I know that in most Asian countries Apple is not very popular.
But here in America, especially in universities and publishing companies,
Apple is very commonly used.
SHERRY: But I need a computer that can handle writing in Chinese.
ALEX: There are several Chinese writing programs you can use with Macintosh.
Chinese is no problem for Apple.
SHERRY: Hmm.
I think I should ask some of my friends for advice before I make a decision.
I'm sorry.
ALEX: No, don't be sorry. It's reasonable to ask your friends.
But believe me, most of the students here in the university--
Asian students included--most of them use Apple.
SHERRY: Well, thanks for your advice. I will probably come back later.
ALEX: You're very welcome. Here is my card, if you need any help.
