  雅思大作文范文:修路

To construct and maintain roads is a publicservice administered by the government. However, swheresdoes the money come from?Somebody believe that the government shouldallocate money from national finance on the roadconstruction; but others think that the roads are constructed for people, so every tax-payerhas the responsibility for constructing and maintaining the roads. It is so called“What is takenfrom the people is used in the interests of the people.”

To the first opinion, since government is the administrative organ, it has responsibility to dooverall plan on those public services of city construction, including constructing the road. They think that the government should do plan and allocate every penny on all thingsconcerning people’s life.

However in reality, the government cannot do all specific plans and money allocations onevery detail concerning the society running. It only has the right of macro-adjustment andcontrol. To be specific on the road construction, many people believe that based on theprinciple above, since the road is constructed for the convenience of people themselves, every tax-payer has duty to devote a little on the road construction, which is not only for thecity overall plan, but also for their own use fundamentally. Once the constructions finish, theroads will be wider and longer, the facilities along the roads will be better in use, by then peoplecould further improve their working efficiency, etc..

As I know, the second opinion is more reasonable and feasible, because it has twoadvantages: 1. The government could reduce heavy burdens, simplify and make clear theusage of money; 2. Tax-payers are clear about the usage of money they turn over, thusimprove the transparency. Therefore, it is a good measure for both sides to allocate moneyfrom the tax paid by people on the road construction.

  雅思大作文范文:空運蔬菜水果的利弊

Air transport is increasingly used to exporttypes of fruits and vegetables to countries wherethose plants can't grow or out of season. Some sayit is a good thing, but others consider this use of airtransport can't be justified. Discuss both views andgive your own opinion.

Air transport is commonly used to move fruitsand vegetables to places where those farm productscan't grow or are out of season. The benefits ofsuch business are obvious, but air transport also creates a number of problems.

Transport of fruits and vegetables by air enables consumers to enjoy a wider variety offresh and in-season farm products from all over the world. Not only is air transport good forconsumers, it is also a blessing for farmers because the market is no longer restricted byregions. As a result, air transport increases the sale volume by selling more products in moreplaces.

Moreover, air transport of food has now become a major resource of incomes for aircompanies. In the past, air companies' business mainly came from serving passengers. However, facing an increasingly tough market, air companies need to expand their share ofmarket to serve a wider range of customers in order to stay in the game and make a profit. With a booming economy and more money to spend, people create a great potential for foodtransport business and good margin for air companies.

In spite of such benefits, air transport is not free of problems. One major issue is highcost. Air transport is probably the most expensive way of transport. Higher costs entail highprices, which in turn deprive people with less money the opportunities to enjoy such privileges. So air transported food is now for the rich, a fact that is unfair for poor people.

In addition, it is not the best option to solve problems by transporting food from outsidefor places where certain kinds of fruits does not grow. The most optimal way, it seems to me,is that we should change the environment required by such plants using scientific andbiological methods such as creating suitable soil and temperature. Such solutions will beproven to be ultimately cost-effective and fundamental.

More importantly, research indicates that air transport pollutes the environment. Forexample, Britain transports half its food by air. However one kilo New Zealand fruit emits fivekilo warm house gas on its way to destination. Therefore, some environmental groups andbooks advocate people to distinguish local fruit and air-transported fruit in an effort to cutthe pollution from food consumption.

In conclusion, air transport has many benefits for consumers and farmers, but it also hasproblems such as high cost and pollution. More effective and environmental friendly solutionshould be found to address such problems.

  雅思大作文范文:環(huán)境、資源與交通問題

The fast increase in the number of cars have broughtalong many related problems which are well worthour greatest attention.

First of all, urban traffic is getting from bad to worse. I’d like to cite my own experience as anexample. Five years ago, it took me about 30 minutes to drive from home to office. One yearlater, I needed to spend about 40 minutes on the way. Then two years later, I had to start outfrom home at least 1 hour earlier in order to get to my office on good time for work. And then, since last year, it has just been too normal for me to spend about one and half hours to makeit. The traffic just moves like a worm!

Second, with the ever growing number of cars, air quality in urban areas is deteriorating witheach passing day. We used to see clear blue sky and breathe fresh air, but now this would be areal luxury. Car exhaust has seriously polluted the air and people’s health is greatlyendangered. It seems certain that we human beings have already made a fatal mistake thatcould only be remedied by bringing down the number of cars hugely.

Sure, we can not deny the fact that cars have brought us speed, comfort and greatermobility. However, these have already been history. We are suffering much more from carsthan benefiting from them. Our health conditions are going down rapidly both due to thepolluted air that we have to breathe every second and our lack of exercise as a result of theever increasing amount of time we have to spend behind the wheel!

What can we do? From the foregoing discussion, I’m sure we have already found a solution: todiscourage people to use cars! I know very well that science and technology are alsodeveloping very fast and there might be better solutions coming up in the future, but, beforethat, let’s first salvage ourselves in such a passive way!
