雅思大作文范文:移居外國(guó)的人應(yīng)不應(yīng)該接受當(dāng)?shù)氐奈幕?/strong>
Nowadays, more and more people would like tomove to other countries and settle down for betternatural environment, more educationalopportunities, etc. Whether these new settlersshould accept new countries’ values and life styleshas become a public focus. Before presenting myown opinion, I think it is essential to analyze bothsides of the issue.
People in favor of acceptance to new values claim that once you live in a newenvironment, you have to adapt yourself to the new community. If not, you would feelpsychologically isolated. Moreover, getting yourself in the new environment, you candevelop a better career, for your employer will consider you to be an adaptable person. Andyour family also can get themselves involved in the new community. Last but not least, as youaccept the new values and life styles, you can learn something new besides your own culture.
Those who are against, however, argue that if the settlers accept new values and culture, they are considered to betray their own countries, so they no longer belong to their countries.Furthermore, new settlers are supposed to keep their own styles. For instance, their eatinghabits, religion believes, and so on. Last of all, it is a good way to preserve their tradition andculture, especially the ethnic, who are in minority of people.
Personally speaking, I tend to side with the former view. Though people should have theirunique styles, it is crucial to adjust to the new environment and community. An old sayingjust illustrates my point: When in Rome, do as the Roman.
雅思大作文范文:學(xué)習(xí)歷史是否有價(jià)值
History is more than the old stories, myths, oran academic subject for the scholars to writepapers or books. Like many other sciences, historynot only tells people what have happened before butalso functions as a compass to lead human beingsin the right course.
One of the most important roles that the studyof history plays in solving the current human affairsis that it functions as a “rearview mirror”. It showswhat is behind you so that you can move forwardeasily. History is, in essence, the people and their activities, both physical and psychological,in the past. If we accept that the past and the present are not entirely separated, then wehave to admit the value of history. Our ancestors have suffered the same troubles, such asdisease, disaster, or devil, as what we are confronted with, and their experiences, knowledge, and understanding of nature provide us with invaluable wisdom.
It is true that a fewer people claim that history helps people little in unlocking the currentproblems. They might give a long list of assumed “evidence”. For instance, they say thatenvironmental issues are new, globalization unprecedented, political or economical conflictsfresh, and the like. Nevertheless, they have failed to see that in essence these problems arewhat our forefathers have experienced. Today people are suffering the same old trouble ofpoverty, wars, and mental crisis.
Therefore, reading history, at least we can find some clues to solve these problems.

With the rapid development of modern science, computers have been playing a more important rolein our daily lives. It is such a worldwide trend thatthere is no exception for Chinese.
Many people regard the computer as the magicmachine. It can solve many problems quickly andefficiently, and best of all, it can translate all kindsof languages. By using the computer you can just put ail the original versions into it and thenyou will get the fast translation. So some parents raise doubts about the necessity for theirchildren to learn foreign languages so hard any more.
At first thought, it seems that the computers can really help us to do so. But if you look in-sue the matter deeply, you may find a different answer. First of all, machines can never replacemankind. Computers are created by man and are controlled by human brains. We can neverrely too much on machines; otherwise we will become the slave of them one day. On thecontrary, we need to enrich our knowledge as much as possible so that we can catch up withthe fast pace of the world. It is very necessary to learn more languages so as to upgrade ourabilities to follow the progress of the world.
And furthermore, it will do good to children if they learn more languages. Both their brainand their thinking modules can benefit from it. When they grow up, they can easily acceptvarious kinds of cultures and communicate with foreigners, which can favorably enhance themutual understanding and develop international brotherhood.
So, we can clearly see that, though computers can be good translators, people still need tolearn more languages with a view to improving their abilities and facilitating their futurecommunication with people from other cultures.

An argument occasionally these days is thatsome people often think machine translation can takeplace of the children's study of a foreign language. As far as I am concerned, I can't totally agree withthis opinion.
It first comes to the point that machinetranslation is not high efficiency. The humanlanguage is so complex that nowadays no such machine can translate one language to anothersufficiently and totally. The machine can only provide some words or pieces of half-bakedsentences. So we human beings, especially children, may not rely on this kind of machine, atleast recently.
On the other hand, if the real machine that the whole sentence can be translated completelyturn to reality, children should not be taught not study a foreign language. The reason is thelanguage (especially speaking) is made up of not only the grammar and words but also tonesand mood. And when children are studying a language, he is not discovering an unknown area, but wild his logic and ideation. Additionally, even if the machine will be out of work one dayoccasionally in future, he can talk with other foreigners freely.
Frankly, the loss of language sensitivity is much popular these days. Many people'sspeaking and grammar is terrible. Children often study wrong speaking from annoying TVprograms and untrained broadcasters. The invention of translation machine will make it worse. The problem whether to teach the boys and girls foreign languages or not needs to be treatedseriously.
In a word, in modern society the translation machine is stealing our sensitivity of thelanguage. People should do something to prevent the loss of language ability, especially in thechildhood.
