The hare and the tortoise
龜兔賽跑
The hare was once boasting of his speed before the other animals. "I have never been beaten," he said, "when I run at full speed, no one is faster than me."
兔子向動(dòng)物們夸耀他的速度,“我從來(lái)沒(méi)有失敗過(guò),”他說(shuō),“當(dāng)我奔跑時(shí),沒(méi)有人比我更快。”
The tortoise said quietly, "I will race with you." "That is a good joke," said the hare. "I coulddance around you the whole way."

The race started. The hare darted almost out of sight at once. He soon stopped and lay down to have a nap.

蝙蝠、鳥(niǎo)和野獸
There was a big fight between the birds and the beasts. The bat did not join in the fight.
鳥(niǎo)與野獸宣戰(zhàn),蝙蝠沒(méi)有參戰(zhàn)。
Some birds said to the bat, "Come with us." But he replied, "I am a beast."

Later on, some beasts said to him, "Come with us." But he replied, "I am a bird."

At last the fighting ended peacefully. The bat first went to the birds, and wanted to join in thecelebration, but they all turned against him. He then went to the beasts, but was also driven away.

The lion and the mouse
獅子與報(bào)恩的老鼠
When a lion was asleep, a little mouse began running up and downbeside him. This soon wakened the lion. He was very angry, and caught the mouse in his paws.
獅子睡著了,有只老鼠在他的周圍爬上爬下,很快吵醒了獅子,獅子很生氣,一把抓住了老鼠。
"Forgive me, please." cried the little mouse. "I may be able to help you someday." The lion was tickled at these words. He thought, "How could this little mouse help me?" However he lifted up his paws and let him go.
“饒了我吧,”老鼠請(qǐng)求說(shuō),“也許有一天我能幫上你的忙呢。”獅子覺(jué)得很好笑,他想:“這只小老鼠怎么能幫上我的忙?”但他還是抬起爪子放他走了。
A few days later, the lion was caught in a trap.

The hunters wanted to take him alive to the king, so they tied him to a tree, and went away to look for a wagon.

Just then the little mouse passed by, and saw the sad lion.
